An inherited collection of papers yielded the following original document pertaining to the Alexander family of Pickens Dist., SC, later Oconee Co., SC. The first part of the transcription can be found in yesterday’s post.

That thereafter, towit, on the [blank] day of [blank] 186[blank], Micajah
Alexander, died intestate, leaving as his heirs at law and
distributees the defendants, his widow, Jennie Alexander,
and his children, Martha Watson nee Alexander, Mary McCall,
Pendleton Alexander, Rebecca Hudson, Pickens Alexander,
Vance Alexander, Tallulah Alexander, and Siotha Alexander.

That thereafter, towit, on the [blank] day of [blank] 186[blank], Isaac
Alexander died intestate, leaving as his heirs at law and
distributees the defendants, his widow, Charlotte Alexander,
and his children, Daniel D. Alexander, Lucinda Alexander,
Thomas Alexander, Jacob Alexander, and Sarah Frasier nee
Alexander

That thereafter, towit, on the [blank] day of [blank] 186[blank],
Elizabeth Watson nee Alexander died intestate, leaving
as her heirs at law and distributees her children, the
defendants, Daniel, Elizabeth, and James Watson-

That thereafter[?], towit, on the [blank] day of [blank] 1879,
Levina Alexander died intestate, leaving as her heirs
at law and distributees the same persons as are men-
tioned above as the distributees of James Alexander, decd,
except Mary Alexander the widow of James Alexander,
decd, Jennie Alexander, the widow of Micajah Alexander
decd, and Charlotte Alexander the widow of Isaac Alex-
ander, decd, and no others-

That the plaintiff, and each of the defendants, has
an estate of inheritance in the premises above describ
ed as follows towit: The plaintiff Jacob B. Alexander,
and the defendants Elias F. Alexander, Jordan Alexander,
Nancy Ann Madden, and David Alexander, has each

one individual eighteenth interest in the fee thereof,

The defendant Mary Alexander widow of James
Alexander, decd, has one undivided one half interest
in the fee thereof; each of the defendants, Jennie
Alexander and Charlotte Alexander, has one undivided
one sixtieth interest in the fee thereof; each of the
defendants, Martha Watson, Mary McCall, Pendleton
Alexander, Pickens Alexander, Vance Alexander, Tallulah
Alexander, and Siotha Alexander, has one undivided seven
fourteen hundred and fortieths interest in the fee thereof;
each of the defendants Daniel Alexander, William Alexander,
Thomas Alexander, Jacob Alexander, Lucinda Alexander,
and Sarah Frasier, has one undivided seven ten hun
dred and eightieths interest in the fee thereof; and each
of the defendants Daniel Elizabeth Ann & Levina Perritt,
and Daniel, James & Elizabeth Watson, has one undivided
one fifty-fourth interest in the fee thereof;

That the defendants Tallulah Alexander, Siotha
Alexander, Jacob Alexander, James Watson and Elizabeth
Watson are all infants over fourteen and under
twenty one years of age-

That the plaintiff is informed that Thomas E
Madden claims by purchase certain interest of the
said premises, but that this plaintiff has no means of
knowing which or how many except the interest of [illegible]
F. Alexander a deed for which to said Madden is on
record in the clerk’s office for this county-

That there are no debts against the Estate
of the said James Alexander, decd.

That the plaintiff owns no other lands in
common with defendants; and that there are no
specific lines of [illegible] the said lands against any

That is the whole of the document in my possession. The entire proceedings, including its conclusion, should be recorded in the minutes of the appropriate court in Oconee County.

In addition to giving the location of lands owned by various members of the family, this document also provides solid evidence for connections between three generations of this Alexander family. My interest is primarily upon Elizabeth (Alexander) Watson and her children, Daniel, James, and Elizabeth, because of the situations under which Elizabeth and her husband each died.
