William and Martha Holden, buried there, are my great, great grandparents. My grandmother, Laura Holden Haynes, grew up closer to Dillard. My wife and I tried to get out there in our car 3 or 4 years ago and thought we would never get out, as our car "bottomed-out" in some deep ruts. Correct, the cell phone did not work. We never made it to the cemetary and every few months I get the itch to go there. We almost tried to cross the river when it was low but came to our senses. If you look on Google Earth, I believe you can see a difference in the tree color where the old homestead was. It is just below the cemetary and right on the river. The cemetary was examined several years ago and I have the names and dates on the headstones that she was able to read. As I live only two hours from there, I guarantee that I will eventually get to the cemetary, homestead, and maybe to the top of Holden Mountain.
